I started DigitalKube on 25th June, 2018.

My passion for technology has been a constant throughout my life. Today, I’m a self-taught internet marketer and am currently learning programming and German language as well.

DigitalKube is a platform where I write about SEO, blogging, WordPress, and making money online. The site helps aspiring bloggers and businesses leverage the power of the internet and content marketing to spread their brand message.

How My Journey Started

Back in 2013, my family wasn’t in a very healthy financial condition. I finished my class 12th and was thinking of joining a coaching class to prepare for NEET (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test). It’s an exam you have to clear if you want to become a doctor.

My dad had no money and asked me to prepare by myself with limited resources. I wasn’t ready for that kind of pressure as becoming a doctor wasn’t my first choice in the first place. I was always good at maths and computers, but my dad wanted me to pursue what everyone else was doing.

Indian parents in those days influenced the career choices of their children a lot. It was so normal, and to some extent, it still is in India.

Call from an old friend

Anyway, I started studying half-heartedly, and that’s when an old friend called me.

He told me that he had joined an MLM company where they teach you how to make money online. Everything he said after that flew straight over my head. I kept wondering about that “make money online” part.

I was super hyped about my new discovery and as soon as he left, I asked my father to connect his old Nokia phone to our laptop and tether 2G internet over Bluetooth because I needed to do some research (and yes that’s also how I learned blogging and ran blogs for about a year until I got my first income from blog to buy 3G internet dongle and afford tariff plans).

The journey begins

After some research and reading various articles, I knew I wanted to do it.

The blogs that helped me learn the most include ShoutMeLoud.com by Harsh Agrawal, MyBloggerTricks.com by Mohammad Mustafa Ahmedzai, ProBlogger.com by Darren Rowse, and several others.

I started by convincing my parents that this is what I want to do and that I won’t ever regret it and require their full support.

Surprisingly, they were pretty okay with it once I explained my roadmap and plan of action.

Once I got the green flag, I created my first blog on Blogger.com (aka Blogspot) without much success initially. It took me a couple of months only to understand the designing part of the blog.

Speed wasn’t much of a concern back then. I only knew basic HTML, so it was a really tough journey.

I started writing articles as well about tech, blogging, and SEO. Basically, everything I was learning myself, I was writing as well.

I also started giving a 6th class kid home tuition to earn some money because I wasn’t earning anything from my blog till then.

I registered my first domain mashinie.com on the 28th of November 2013.

Yes, I know that name sounds very unusual and even lame but “Mashable.com” was the inspiration behind the name. I was young and wanted to build something cool. Also, we didn’t have ChatGPT back then that could suggest some domain name ideas 😛

I soon realized that Blogstpot as a platform is very limiting and WordPress was a clear choice.

In a couple of weeks, I migrated my blog to WordPress for more power and control. It was a really difficult and scary process at that time as I didn’t know a single thing about WordPress, migrations, servers, etc.

As I mentioned above, you have to keep learning to succeed in digital marketing so I learned the basics by following tutorials.

Back then, WordPress wasn’t as flexible and robust as it is today. A single mistake in code or a buggy theme/plugin could crash your entire site and you had to fix it by using your server or FTP

I also joined college in a couple of months. I realized that the biology and medicine field is not for me. Computers and tech are my passion and I wanted to make it my career. I enrolled myself for a degree in BCA (Bachelor of Computer Applications).

Years passed. I was on and off from blogging due to studies and skills development. Eventually, in 2018, I wanted to restart blogging but I wanted a domain that’s easy to remember and spell. I bought the domain digitalkube.com and moved mashinie.com to it.

Today, mashinie.com redirects to digitalkube.com

This journey taught me valuable lessons:

  • Continuous Learning: Never consider yourself perfect because there’s always something new out there.
  • Passion Over Perfection: You don’t need extensive knowledge initially; what matters most is your enthusiasm.
  • Quality Content Matters: Focus on providing value through quality rather than quantity.
  • Respect & Humility: Blogging isn’t just about sharing information, it’s also about building relationships within this community by staying humble despite successes achieved along the way!

Blogging takes hard work, dedication, and patience, but if done right, it can be incredibly rewarding both personally and professionally. Keep pushing forward even during tough times. Remember, time is the best teacher and will guide you toward achieving your goals.

Thank you for making it so far and reading my journey.
